Human Sorcerer Build (Be prepared to drool) Solo Artist This build is for anybody who likes to cause massive destruction instantly to everything in a large area beyond normal means when it finaly blooms, however the build is also decent at melee combat in the early levels making your life easier. This build is not an item crafter, so make an item crafter and load him/her up with CHR cloak +6 and other goodies to make it even more wicked. This build is also designed for pure solo play for a major challenge. I would not advise trying this as an average player on Ironman. Human Sorcerer (Chaotic Evil for the greatest carnage) 14+ STR, 16+ Dex, 16+ Con, 14+ Int, 12+ Wis, 18 Chr. Of course put your Spell Craft and Concentration to max every level. Take some points into Tumble, Hide, Move Silently if you have the points. Tumble is great for casters because they suffer no loss on dex using no armor. all you need is a DC15 check and just a couple points will give you +5 tumble with 16 dex. this gives your sorcerer a 50% chance to tumble. When Tumble is high enough it is much better then 5 foot step in many ways of getting better mobility on the field. Spells level 0: Read Magic Co8 patch lets you ID potions as well as scrolls. , Disrupt Undead for those pesky pierce resistance mobs early on. , Open/Close is good for traped chests after you knock em. Resistance - 1 more on all saves for a little could save your life. Spells level 1: Sleep, Mage Armor (Easy Exp) with Coup De Grace. Will get to that later. Feats: Total Of 5 feats with this build. Take Combat Reflexes for tons of AoO with your spear, and Skill Focus Concentration to give you a big 10 at level 1. 16 Con +3, 4 skill points, + feat = 10. Weapon: One of the great things people forget about sorcerers is they have a much wider variety of weapons to use then wizards on top of their insane amount of spells per day. Take Long Spear all the way. Gives you a 10 foot reach so AoO is a lot easier to pull off with many tumble tactics and Combat Reflexes, making your early levels much easier. make sure to have at least a 14 str with this build so you can get that 1d8+3 damage for fighting 2handed. If you have CO8 patch get a Masterwork Longspear from the smith. If not, just buy a normal one. Alright we have a wonderful build going so far, start your party Chaotic Evil, make the character above and start up. you should more then likely be in the middle of a slaughter with 5 human victims to kill. switch to a melee weapon fast. Cast sleep and nail them in their slumber. kill quickly and gain a level before heading off to Hommlet (wasn't that easy?) lol Now that your level 2 you want to obviously put points in Con, SC, and whatever else you can. Tumble is a big one too. Choose any level 0 spell. head up to the smith fast by clicking map and heading to south hommlet.. he is just east of the Inn. Get your self a Long Spear. Now it's time to kill chickens. Once your done getting a spear head back to the place you originaly started at in hommlet, cast Mage Armor and head left. there is chickens all over the place solo they net 50+ exp each! Just kill all the chickens around the woodcutter and you should be close to level 3. Should be easy with first attack, and AoO if you miss. After you done butchering the chickens talk to the woodcutter and head to the Decklo Grove and kill the spiders to net you level 3. The spiders should be pretty easy with your combat abilities and AC. Head back and get the quest exp as well. Once you reach level 3 choose the spell shield, choose the feat Spell Focus Evocation. Time to head to the Inn and waste some NPC's. If you know how to do it, you can waste all the npc's in the Inn and not get the Butcher Of Hommlet mark. When killing the top 3 Npc's make sure the camera does not show the stupid Inn Keepers wife on the screen. Cast sleep and demolish them in their sleep. This should either get you level 4 or come damn close. A trick to leveling up faster in ToEE is do not level when you see that you have. Instead wait and build your experience at the same level your at till you are 1 exp away from gaining 2 fast levels! This method can save you hours leveling, because the higher level you are the weaker exp you get from creatures. Milk them for everything they got till your exp no longer moves. Once your level 4 time to take one of the greatest spells in the game Web. nothing is as easy as using a 10' reach weapon while your targets (unless they have 10' reach) are struggling to get free of your web. Stab them while their hopeless HAHAHA! put your free points into CHR Anyways head to Ranos and get the location to the Moat house. use rest strats and your new web tactic to boost your exp to level 6 in no time. When Reaching level 5 take the spells Detect Secret Doors and Eagles Splender. Lot's Of Hidden stuff in the ToEE, and OMG time to raise your CHR real quick to 23 giving you a +6 to your DC's and +7 to your evocation DC's. gota love eagles splender. For people that don't know what DC means it means Difficulty Check, So the higher it is the more things will fail misserably to saving VS your awesome sorcerer. When reaching level 6 it's time to realy bloom with this class. Choose the spell Fireball and the feat Greater Spell Focus Evocation. Now we have a killer combo that 50% of the mobs in ToEE cannot live through at this level alone. Like web and stabbing? Well wait till you see what happens when a web gets lit on fire! Head up to the main gates of the Moat House, go inside the tower and kill the spider. Rest here till your hearts content. Now it's time to test your carnage! Go outside into your killing courtyard next to your new home and rest till you get into an encounter. Cast Web like usual and tangle everything up, Cast the spell Eagles splender next round, now time to blow them to bits! Cast fireball and watch the damage you deal because they will save by the skin of their cahonnies if they do. You also get another level 0. Fire Ball level 3 spell = +3 DC, Charisma 23 +6 DC, Spell Focus Evocation +1 DC, Greater Spell Focus Evocation +1 DC comes to a MASSIVE 21 DC! That is roughly around 70% failure on most enemies. Arlight time to let that DC21 Fireball go and watch what happens. Fireball deals 6d6 damage 1/2 save and the web ignites! This deals an extra 2d4 damage to all in the web. So you just did with no save 6d6+2d4 damage to everything. That is on average around 26 damage to most enemies. (this is nothing compared to what happens at level 10 trust me :P) Level up to 7 and take the spells, Magic Missle, Mirror Image, Displacement. All these with shield and mage armor make you very hard to kill. Magic Missile any pesty Fire Resistant Enemies. Level 8 choose the spell Stone Skin (now your almost impossible to kill fully buffed) put final point into CHR making it 24 +7 with eagles splender. Or you could choose Ice Storm, keep them webbed and pound them if their big and you don't want web to break but want some for sure damage. Level 9 choose Stone Skin making you very hard to kill (great Vs Giants and other big baddies) Protection From Energy, Needed greatly on elemental nodes later in game. Knock, open says me! Finaly the feat to make this class nuclear! Empower Spell. Level 10 Cone Of Cold last spell. Level 10 is when this character becomes what I like to call Nuclear. Finaly you made it and want to see what all this hype is about right, well let's do it! Go into your spells and click the little blue circle next to fire ball. Go up to (Empower Spell) and place it on the right list. Your fire ball is now a level 5 spell making it +5 DC! It also deals 10d6 damage +50% of the damage rolled. Roughly 10d6+30 damage to everything on no save! So let me explain this to finalize my Build since this is the end. Web targets, Cast Eagles Splender, Cast Empowered Fireball. DC +7 chr, DC+5 spell, DC+1 Feat, DC+1 feat DC 24 fireball that deals 10d6+30+2d4 damage, roughly 60-70 damage per target. Use cone of cold on targets immune to fire and you got the game in a bag. ----------------------------- I notice their is a bug in the manuel with longspear, so take martial weapon profiency Glaive instead of Skill Focus Concentration, since it's so easy to move out of melee range with this build. Also instead of killing the NPC characters inside the INN. invite them into your party and take them outside. disband the monk and fighter and kill the theif, since it is friendly fire you take no butcher of hommlet rank. Invite the monk and fighter, put them to sleep and slay them in their sleep to almost put you to level 4 (if you killed chickens and spiders you will hit 4 with this easy).
